Today I spent some time at the real eye doctor help my son learn to put contacts into his eyes. It wasn't an automatic thing for him, and after an hour of repeated tries, he finally got them in. I was so proud of him to keep persevering. But if you think about it, how strange is that we would take a piece of polymer plastic and stick it on our eyeball! Soon afterwards, however, we don't even realize they're there. We go about our lives, focusing, driving and appreciating the beauty of life. Seeing perfectly. All thanks to some plastic ovals stuck onto our eyeballs!
For some people, God is like getting contact lenses. Of course, there are those who try and shove God into our lives. With little love and no relationship, it's like prying a giant lens into a little opening (see picture). Even so, getting God into our lives can be initially difficult to adjust to. Uncomfortable. Even unnatural. And then after a while, unnoticed, though His benefits permeate everything we do. Still others realize they are so blind without Him, they will do anything to get Him into their lives.
Like the young woman I met with recently. Struggling to overcome a difficult past, she finally reached a point where she knew that without God in her life, her future was dark and hopeless. And so she opened her eyes and slowly inserted the Answer into her life equation.
She who once was blind now sees. And the path in front of her is sprinkled with petals of hope.
See what I mean?
Sorry to leave this here, but I can't seem to find a number for VintageNxt. My family and I are relocating to Little Rock. I would like to talk to someone about where NOT to live in Little Rock. I'd love to live in Hillcrest, but I think it might be a little pricy for us. anyway, would greatly appreciate any help. Your church looks like our kind of place. Thanks!
